The goal of every small business is to grow.

Whether that means growing the number of products or services offered, the number of jobs created for the community, or the number of little league sponsorships that can be afforded, every independent business is trying to grow something.

While this may seem obvious, it can be easy for us as independent business owners to get caught up in our “small, local, and independent” identity and forget that despite our pride and the chip on our shoulder, we are still trying to grow.

You’d be hard pressed to find a more humble beginning or a smaller start than Olde Wood Limited® had. You’d also be hard pressed to find a business blessed with such rapid growth. Our relentless hard work has paid dividends, and we now find ourselves on the cusp of no longer technically being a “small business.”

In the hardwood flooring industry, much of our competition comes from investor backed companies with advertising resources far beyond ours. Despite this, we have established ourselves as the nation’s wide plank flooring authority, while staying independent and 100% family owned.

How have we done this?
Simply put: by remaining a small, family company–no matter how big we get.

I don’t mean that we have not expanded the products we offer. Or not created new jobs to keep up with our growth. Or that we didn’t build a new state-of-the-art production facility. We did all of those things.

I mean that we still treat all of our customers just like we did when we were a small business finding our feet. We still make every sale the same way we did before we had a reputation that now, more times than not, sells itself.

Maintaining that kind of relationship with our customers has guided our entire business through such tremendous growth, and that’s why today we are a custom wide plank mill unlike any other in the world.

When most companies grow to a certain point, investor pressures force them to take what the individual customer wants and throw it out the window. They have to say, “This is what we offer, and this is what you are going to get.” Customers are force-fed whatever options are most profitable, rather than given the freedom to create the dream floor they had envisioned for their home.

We decided early on that we weren’t going to let our success change the experience we offer to our customers.

This is exactly why we manufacture all of our wide plank flooring at our own facility right here in Ohio, using both traditional milling methods and cutting edge technology. Having total control over production allows us to offer complete freedom to our customers. Whatever a customer imagines their wide plank floor looking like, we can make it a reality. We are ready to make a premium wide plank floor to match every dream home.
